I make metal sculptures and lamps out of old metal junk found all over the place. They usually come to me as greasy car parts, rusted old tools or bits of scrap ready for the tip. Sometimes, I immediately see something in them: a face, a body, a foot, or great lamp stand, and then work from there. The cleaning up process is the hardest but the most rewarding - removing rust, de-greasing or cutting off unnecessary bits. I then set about welding pieces together and before I know it, I have created something.
