Rachele Henderson | studio 12 art

I am Rachele Henderson the person behind Studio 12 Art, I live in the lovely Manawatu of New Zealand. My journey with clay started as a child with my family owning a slip casting teaching studios. My own work starting with wanting a piece for my pond and not beginning able to find just the right piece. That was the start of working with stoneware clay and the slab building technique.
Harry the hippo was made, I have not stopped creating new animals and other items for the garden and walls. Each of my works are handmade so no two are the same. I decorate the clay with patterns, using antique stamps and laces amongst other found items. I prefer to work with minimal colour letting the pattern and detail to show through. I strive to create not copy and be as individual as possible, always looking to create new works.
