Auckland based paint and sculpture artist Jill Bryce started painting roughly 20 years ago, inspired by the colours of the sea, sky and surrounding areas. “So that is how I started – painting seascapes, trying to capture the moods of the sky and seas.”
The last year, however, has seen Jill’s work take a rather diffirent direction. “I found myself desperatly needing change, so here I am, trying my hand hand at ‘abstract’. I am loving it, but it’s a very different process [painting abstract], one I find quite difficult compared to my older work. Trying to get the feel of the painting, a sense of direction… luckily it eventually - somehow - seems to work.
